“Ozempic”

Ozempic is prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes, but it is commonly used for “weight loss” these days. Ozempic is a medication that helps adults with type 2 diabetes to keep a check on their blood sugar levels. It mimics a hormone called GLP-1 with its active ingredient – semaglutide, which boosts insulin production, lowers blood sugar, reduces appetite, and makes you feel fuller for a longer time. It is taken as an injection once a week under the skin.

Common side effects

– Nausea

– Diarrhoea

– Vomiting

– Constipation

Serious side effects Rare but

– Inflammation of pancreas – severe stomach pain

– low blood sugar – dizziness, blurred vision, anxiety, irritability, headache

– Kidney problems – less urination, swelling

– Serious allergic reactions – swelling, itching

– Gallbladder problems – pain in upper stomach

Ozempic comes with a “boxed warning” about the risk of thyroid cancer.

It is not a drug for “weight loss”. Consult the right source before considering.
