When you are unable to spend time with self, you often resort to coping mechanisms in the form of some distractions. Distractions are mostly destructive for your physical, mental and spiritual health. Resorting to any of the cravings is your coping mechanism.
To overcome cravings you need to focus on your mental well-being. Just controlling or restricting will not last for a long time because you are working on physical or outer aspects. You will soon be back to your cravings. You need to address your void, your inner self needs and wants and work on it. This exercise will address your cravings.
